Today, I found out that in 2025, Roblox is limiting in-game chat to 13+ users only as of 2025. This is not to be confused with the update that was already implemented, where under 13 users aren't allowed to use Platform Chat or Group Walls. I watched Chaseroony's video, KreekCraft's video and then ChloeGames' video and in all 3 videos, the comments section was saying that this is a negative update. How is protecting children from predators on Roblox a negative update? I definitely think that people are missing the point of these important updates announced by Roblox. And I understand that most of these commenters are probably kids, but I just want to express my thoughts on these important safety updates.
Nobody is ever immune to predators. It's really ill-informed to say that. Just as social media is 13+ in most countries, it's in Roblox's best interest to mirror that general rule. So Roblox isn't overreacting, they're mirroring other platforms to make Roblox safer.
Saying that kids aren't dumb and will verify their age with their mum's email is missing the point. It's on the parent to enforce these rules, not on Roblox. The reason that the entire Roblox community is happy about this is because Roblox is providing parents with a way to keep their children safe.
This isn't about kids not being able to play their favourite roleplay games; this is about giving parents a way to keep their kids safe. It's an important update and I wish people in these comments sections would look beyond the surface.

These were the main things I saw people arguing about in the comments sections of those videos, so I just wanted to cover them. Let me know your thoughts on these safety updates that Roblox will be rolling out in the coming months. I think it's imperative that Roblox continues this momentum to improve the safety of the platform. These are changes that community members have been asking for for years, and I'm glad that Hindenburg Research stepped in to encourage Roblox to release these updates.
